“Lighthouse” summer camp
CDJ (Youth Dynamization Center) Portugal
Between July 3 and 7, at Espaço Pastoral Luiza Andaluz (Belas, Portugal), CDJ Portugal hosted the “Lighthouse” summer camp. 27 teenagers (ages 13-16) and 14 animators participated, including sisters Leta, Naiuca and Rita.
The camp theme was Ship of Discoveries. Each day, we “docked” on a continent and discovered the story of a saint. Our great captain was Luiza Andaluz, who was always at the bow of the ship.
Throughout the days, we were able to pray together, enjoy the farm, carry out activities: from preparing salami, to water activities and even a night gymkhana around the farm. The elderly from Belas parish day center came to visit us and together we spent a very pleasant afternoon, with songs, riddles and praying the rosary.
On the last day, we invited the parents of the teenagers for a camp mass. At the end, the teenagers shared some activities carried out throughout the days.
Those were five intense days, filled with laughs, joy, communion with each other, with God and with the whole creation.
