Celebrating October 15th

In October, the Congregation’s month, among several significant dates, there is the 15th, the beginning of community life. This year we celebrate 101 years since the founding of the Congregation. For this reason, we gather to celebrate together.

In Portugal, nearly all the sisters went to the Motherhouse and the Sisters from abroad connected via zoom. It was a time to deepen our charismatic identity through the presentation of two new prayers. This was followed by the presentation of the three-year program. We also shared economic and pastoral life.

After lunch, we celebrated the Eucharist in the Foundation Chapel which, on this date, celebrated 100 years of reopening as a place of worship, after several years of being used for other purposes.

We celebrated the 50 years consecration jubilee of Sisters Maria Júlia Teresa Vicente and Maria dos Anjos Lourenço Vieira. The Bishop of Santarém, D. José Traquina, presided over the celebration, who mentioned that the Convento das Capuchas (current Fundação Luiza Andaluz) is one of the oldest religious houses that still has a presence of Sisters in the diocese. He also recalled that the diocese of Santarém is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.

At the end of the celebration, we returned to our Mother House (Casa Mãe) for an afternoon of socializing and fellowship. We were happy to have both the Foundation’s children and employees, as well as some friends and acquaintances invited, both at the celebration and at the get-together.
