148th Anniversary of Luiza Andaluz’s Birth

In the Candeeiro Community

Our Candeeiro community spent 12 February in thanksgiving for her life, especially during the community prayers of the Rosary, Lauds and Vespers. At lunch we recited a poem written for the festive occasion.

At the CDJ in Cassongue, Angola

We celebrated Mother Founder’s birthday with the children in study support. The activities included music, theatre and dance. After these activities we sang Happy Birthday to Luiza Andaluz with congratulations to this great figure. Then we had a snack with the children in both periods.

In the Andaluz Family of Massamá

We, the Andaluz Family Group of Massamá, celebrated Luiza Andaluz’s birthday! We also praised the Lord for the gift of our sister Irene’s life and we celebrated and lived together with her: a happy coincidence! We are seven, with God’s grace! Let’s pray that more will join us. May Luiza Andaluz intercede for us!

In the Andaluz Family of Maputo, Mozambique

We had a Eucharistic celebration, followed by a cake cutting. We were honoured by the presence of Mother General and the celebration of Sister Rosária Monteiro’s 13 years of religious life.

In the Andaluz Family of Belo Horizonte, Brazil

The Andaluz Family of Belo Horizonte remembered this festive day with a beautiful Celebration of the Word, given by Eustáquio, Minister of the Word at St John Bosco Parish, who conveyed to the whole community, with great wisdom and clarity, a little about the life and journey of Venerable Luiza Andaluz.

In the Community of Luxembourg

It was in an atmosphere of celebration and great gratitude to the Lord that the Christian community in Luxembourg joined the sisters and gathered to thank God for the life and work of this woman who is still very much alive among us. We Sisters shared this joy and lived it out in community at our house.

In the Novitiate

We lived this day with love, simplicity and joy. We made some sweets to better commemorate this special day. In the evening, we had Mass of Thanksgiving in the parish, celebrated by the Prior, Fr Daniel; the choir was provided by the novices with their dear teacher Paulinha. To round off the day, we joined the communities, friends and family in praying the Rosary online.

In the Community of Amareleja

It was celebrated with the Andaluz Family group and the parish community. The Eucharist was one of thanksgiving for the Mother Foundress and was prepared by the Andaluz Family group from Amareleja. It was a sober but faith-filled celebration!

At the Ericeira Social Centre

This year we thought it would be important to dramatise Luiza’s story for the new staff and children, to make Luiza’s mission and vision known. Elements of the team (pastoral, pedagogical, general services and administrative) organised this beautiful moment.
